Married to Cathleen Herbert  (21 years)
Other Activities include:
Kitesurfing, Cycling, &  Stand-Up Paddle boarding.
I trade Foreign Exchange Currencies.
Other bowls stuff:
I am left-handed.
I have 4 years lawn bowling experience. My delivery is “South African”.  My playing style would be consider “aggressive”.  Like the New Zealanders.
The biggest influences on my game have been Mert Isaacman, Ed Quo, Steve Smith, Willie Wood, and David Bryant.
My most memorable game was in South Africa, at the 2009 Atlantic Rim Games. We had just beaten Willie Wood and his triples team to advance to the quarterfinals. We played the host team, South Africa, with hundreds of their fans cheering them on. It was a great game, and came down to the last shot, on an extra end.  Although I missed it, and we lost by less than a half inch, we gained the respect of the spectators and other players.
The achievements above are nice, but the greatest one so far for me is the simply video I put together and place on Youtube a couple of years ago. So far, it has introduced the game of bowls to a little over 55,000 people worldwide. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=II_FRVw15Wk

Most memorable game:  qualifying for US Championships for first time. The 2002 Central Division pairs playdowns came down to the last bowl on the last end. Tied going home but down one in the head,  skip Carl Landgren had just missed with two weighted shots on bowls 2&3. I called for a draw shot on his last bowl; the opposing lead said “he’ll never be able to adjust his weight,” but drawmaster Carl drew a toucher to win! Game was played in Milwaukee N-S on east green, 3rd blue marker in from end. Ashes may be sprinkled there some day!
